Safe Photoshop Updates

If you use our panels on a daily basis, we encourage you to NOT update Photoshop as soon as a new update is rolled out by Adobe.

Safe Update Settings

If you, however, decide that it is imperative for you to update Photoshop to a newly-released version immediately, be sure to check Import Previous Settings and Preferences and uncheck Remove Old Versions (see the screenshot below) when updating.

You can remove the older version after you confirm that everything is working as intended in the new version.

Updating any software takes time and we don’t want you to wait for the panels’  updates without the ability to use them in the meantime.

Updated Installation Files

Once our developers deliver the updated panels’ installation files, they appear in your Member Account and we announce the update on our social media, in the Retouching Academy Facebook group, on our Status Page, and on the blog.

Typically, it takes only a few days to update all of our panels, depending on the complexity of the update. Once the updated panels are available, you can update Photoshop with the safe-update settings shown in the screenshot above.

If the panels don’t automatically migrate into the new version of Photoshop, you can download the new panels from your Member Account and re-install them in Photoshop following these installation instructions.

Rolling Back to the Previous Photoshop Version

If you have updated Photoshop to a newly-released version only to realize that the RA panels are not compatible with the newest Photoshop version, and we have not yet updated the panels’ installation files, you can “roll back” to the previous Photoshop version and continue using our panels until the updated installation files are available.

Here is where you can find the older versions to roll back to:

Updating Your Panels

If the RA panels did not transfer over to the newest version of Photoshop, please follow these steps:

Step 1: Remove the traces of the older panels on your computer by following these uninstall instructions (for old panels) or the UXP uninstall instructions (for new UXP panels);

Step 2: Re-download the panel installation files from your Member Account;

Step 3: Install the panels following the relevant installation instructions.

And you’re good to go!
